The Ca' dei Frati winery has a long history that dates back to 1782, as seen in a document referring to "a house with a cellar in Lugana within the lands of Sermion known as the Friars' place". In 1939, Felice Dal Cero, the son of Domenico and a winemaker in Montecchia di Crosara, moved into the Lugana di Sirmione house and immediately saw the great potential for winemaking in the area.

After thirty years of hard work in the vineyards and cellar, his son Pietro participated in creating the DOC in 1969 and bottled his first Lugana Casa dei Frati label, which later became known as Ca' dei Frati. Following Pietro Dal Cero's passing in 2012, his wife Santa Rosa and their children Igino, Gian Franco, and Anna Maria took over the business, managing it with the same passion and determination inherited from their father.
The Ca Dei Frati winery takes a careful and traditional approach to making wine from each vineyard's grapes, treating them separately to capture the unique qualities of the terroir. Every step of the winemaking process is executed with the utmost respect for the raw materials, using innovative and refined techniques developed over the years to create well-integrated and long-lasting wines. Collaborating and exchanging ideas with wine expert Gino Veronelli has helped us create a product that is forward-looking.
Ca Dei Frati wines are the result of meticulous observation of the territory and the behavior of the vines, an art that has been passed down through four generations of winemakers. Wine making process starts with the awakening of the plant's vegetative cycle, with every day of the year playing a crucial role in putting together the puzzle that leads to the final product.
Today, Ca dei Frati is one of the most renowned wine producers in Lugana, known for their exceptional wines and commitment to quality.
Ca dei Frati Lugana is one of the finest white wines of Lago di Garda. It is made with the Turbiana grape variety, also known as Trebbiano di Lugana. Cà dei Frati Lugana is known for its straw yellow color with greenish reflections and its fresh and intense aroma with floral and citrus notes. On the palate, it is crisp with good acidity and a savory and mineral finish.
The production process of Ca dei Frati Lugana is characterized by the careful grape selection, gentle pressing, and controlled temperature fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged on fine lees for several months before bottling.
Ca dei Frati Lugana is a versatile wine that can be enjoyed as an aperitif or paired with a wide range of dishes. It pairs well with seafood, pasta dishes, white meats, and fresh cheeses. It is also a perfect match for lake fish dishes such as perch or trout risotto, typical of the Lake Garda area.
Ca dei Frati Lugana has received international recognition and has won several awards, including the Tre Bicchieri award from the Italian wine guide Gambero Rosso and high scores from renowned wine critics such as James Suckling and Wine Enthusiast. Ca dei Frati Pratto is an intense red wine that reflects the passion and experience of the Ca dei Frati winery. The wine combines the aromatic characteristics of Sauvignon Blanc vinified in steel, the softness of Chardonnay, and the finesse of Turbiana to create an exclusive wine. Cuvée Rose Ca Dei Frati is a rosé sparkling wine that represents another great success of the Ca Dei Frati winery. This sparkling wine is obtained using the same grapes as Ca dei Frati Rose, but with a 24-month stay on the lees, which gives the wine a unique aromatic and gustatory complexity. The perlage is very fine, and the antique pink color immediately expresses its refinement.
On the nose, the wine is extremely elegant with salty notes that blend with hints of small red fruits and rose petals. On the palate, the wine is pleasant and flavorful, with fruity flavors and great elegance. The bubbles are delicate and caressing, and the salty and fresh sensation highlights the easy drinkability of this sparkling Italian wine.
It pairs well with appetizers and goes perfectly with all dishes, especially those based on fish, even the most elaborate ones. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 8°-9°.
