A long family history of respect, love, and dedication handed down from father to son. Today the seventh generation is involved in the management of the company on a daily basis. Over 135 years of history and great successes, it has expanded to 150 hectares. Vineyards are located in three production poles: the large headquarters in the historic center of Marsala; the Cardilla winery with traditional Sicilian wines, and the Pantelleria plant.
Cantine Pellegrino cultivates Catarratto grapes, Syrah, Grillo, and Nero d'Avola and uses organic farming methods that respect the environment. In addition to the great Marsala, Zibibbo grapes are grown on the island of Pantelleria, from which the famous Passito di Pantelleria is made.
Today the winery is one of the largest Sicilian wine families and also a well-known Italian wine brand. Their range grows continuously and the wine produced is marketed and appreciated all over the world.
The production of wines from the historic Pellegrino Cantine covers a great variety of high quality local wines: rosé wines, red and white wines, organic wines, sparkling wines, and fortified wines. But the Pellegrino family is above all known for the sensational and sought-after sweet wines, vino dolce, of Pantelleria and Marsala wines solera system
The spearhead Sicilian wine of the cellar is undoubtedly the Cantine Pellegrino Passito Pantelleria produced from Zibibbo grapes from the island of the same name.
Nes Passito di Pantelleria DOC is a sweet wine with an unusual name which means "miracle". Cantine Pellegrino 1880 produces it on the volcanic island of Pantelleria. It is produced with Zibibbo grapes vinified in purity and cultivated at an altitude of 300 meters.
The Zibibbo grapes heroically grown on clayey and sandy soils, benefit from a warm and breezy climate. The grapes are gently pressed after a harvest aimed at selecting the best bunches.
The temperature controlled fermentation is slow and takes place in steel containers, where the wine is further refined before bottling. It has a complex taste with notes of candied fruit and vanilla.
Another wine to be considered for its freshness and drinkability is the Tareni Nero d'Avola Sicilia DOC
A powerful red with notes of rose and red fruit from medium textured clay soils. The vine variety used is pure Nero d'Avola. The vines are grown in the agricultural areas of Salemi and Mazara del Vallo in the province of Trapani.
Starting from the harvest season in the first ten days of September. The traditional red vinification takes place at a controlled temperature with maturation in tanks for four months.
The wine displays a deep hue with vivid purple hues. The nose reveals hints of rose, cherry, and blackberry notes. On the palate, nuances of black cherry and subtle vanilla notes are perceived.
