There are also Veneto wines such as Chardonnay, one of the best table wines, and finally wines from Lombardy, most of them are DOCG.

Red wines: Red wine is the right one for red meat, by now everyone knows it, even though there are those who have always loved white and drink it even while eating a steak! Full bodied red wines are usually suited for full bodied dishes, a little heavier one and also for aged cheese. Whereas young red wine is also suited for fresh cheese and white meat, having a lighter and fresher taste.

White wines: white wine and fish are a super match. Usually, when white wine is more acid, it is appropriate to match it with a dish having a sweeter taste, such as shellfishes or more fatty foods such as cheese.  Light wines, such as Ribolla Gialla, a typical wine from Friuli region, can also be chosen for an aperitif.

Rosé wine: a trendy wine, mainly chosen for an aperitif in summertime, but it can also be matched with many dishes such as soups, fish dishes and first courses of many kinds. Some lighter ones are very good with fine mushrooms, truffle and avocado.

Dessert wine: it is usually sweet, but be careful it must be well chosen or it must be suggested a wine which is never sweeter than the food one is going to eat. There are many of them, such as passito and fortified wines which can also be suited for a salty aperitif.

Sparkling wine: Sparkling wines are used to celebrate something important or simply for a moment of relax. They are more fermented and this allows the creation of a sort of foam, they are also more alcoholic than normal wines.

On the website you will find a huge selection of wines suitable for every situation, you just need to choose.

Wines from Friuli: here are the most renowned ones

Wines from Friuli are the most renowned and prestigious, not only in Italy, but also in the rest of the world. Here are the best ones and their characteristics.

1.         Attems Trebes Ribolla Gialla Collio DOC: a white wine, that has a limpid and bright color, which reminds a mimosa or a sunflower. The scent smells of spicy notes, whereas the taste is fresh with fruity notes and hints of bread and figs. It has a deep and accurate finish, not very heavy. It comes from Friuli Venezia Giulia, directly from hilly vineyards, where the renowned Rabiole de Collibus is cultivated, because the soil mainly exalts this variety. Harvesting is done in the last week of September, the must is fermented in cement tanks, where the temperature is a natural 18°C (64°F).

How is it served? It should be served at a temperature between 8 and 11 degrees. It is suitable for a happy hour or to accompany light dishes of raw fish, shellfish, raw vegetables and smoked dishes.

2.         La Tunella Pinot Grigio Friuli Colli Orientali DOC: with a straw yellow color, it is one of the best Friulian wines for an aperitif. The scent has a fruity aroma, whereas to the palate it is smooth and fresh with a fruity taste with hints of tropical fruits and a slightly acid and very persistent finish.  There is not a wine of "La Tunella" that is not worth trying, a renowned winery in the region and not only. Harvesting is done during the beginning of September and different grapes are taken which are then lightly pressed. It is then subjected to a slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 16°, only in February, after about six months it will be bottled.

How to serve it? It is also served cold, between 8° and 11° C. It is mainly suitable as an aperitif because of its light taste, it is also perfect for appetizers and raw food. Obviously excellent to accompany fish and white meat.

3.         Livio Felluga Terre Alte Rosazzo DOCG: a luminous white wine, with a bright straw yellow colour and an intense aroma with floral and tropical notes. It has a strong flavor between tropical fruits and spices, with a finish of white pepper, very intense. Terre Alte was released in 1981 and it is to be considered one of the most prestigious white wines. It derives from the blend of Friulano, Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon grapes, cultivated in Rosazzo in the historical vineyards having the same name.

How to serve it? It is served chilled and accompanies fish dishes and first courses based on vegetables, excellent with cheese as well.
